May has been a busy month for me – I’ve had a bunch of assignment deadlines for college and exams, and I’ve just completely let stress overtake me. I’m currently nine books behind my Goodreads schedule, and I’m thinking I might not complete my challenge this year if I don’t get my read on!
Books I’ve Read…
My feelings on this book are very much mixed! I’ll be posting my review soon, so watch out for it!
Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.
With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she’s ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.
But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle—a shifting maze of magical rooms—enthralls her.
As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex’s secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.
I finished this book a couple of days ago, and I enjoyed it! I still need to write a review for this one!
Never, ever cry…
Seventeen-year-old Eureka won’t let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother’s death and Ander’s appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don’t make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?
This month hasn’t been great on the reading front (actually, this year hasn’t been great for reading at all, but oh well), but I’ve blogged more than I have been recently, which I’m happy about!
What books have you read this month?!
