I spent last week trawling through Pinterest, trying to find inspiration for a birthday cake to bake for my aunt. Then somehow, down a rabbit hole of pretty baked goods, I stumbled across something adorable: cat macarons.
I’d made macarons from a box mix before, but never from scratch. I thought they could go horribly wrong, but I decided I’d give them a go anyway. Could they have been better? Definitely, but I’m just happy I managed to cook and not burn them!
I found a really easy macaron recipe on Tasty, and though I slightly over mixed the batter (which made it difficult to pipe the cat ears like I wanted to), I was pretty happy with how the macarons turned out!
The cake itself was white chocolate and pistachio, layered with white chocolate buttercream. I found the recipe on Jane’s Patisserie, which is a blog I frequent for recipes all the time (if you’re a fan of cheesecakes, I highly recommend checking out Jane’s recipes!).
The reason I paired The Bane Chronicles with this bake is because when I was trying to think of fictional cats, Chairman Meow came to mind and reminded me of Magnus Bane! I’m not a big fan of short stories so I still haven’t read this one yet, but I love Magnus Bane, so one day I’ll give it a go!
Have you read The Bane Chronicles yet? Have you ever made macarons before?!
