If I finished all of the books I start reading, I wouldn’t have any trouble achieving my yearly Goodreads goal. Alas, I’m such a mood reader that if I’m struggling to read a book, I find it difficult to power through and finish it – even if I’m super close to the end. It’s really frustrating to read the majority of a book, only to lose the motivation to finish the final chapters, which is what I frequently do.
Since this is something I’ve struggled with for a few years now, I thought it would be interesting to look back at the books I’ve started but not finished and write a blog post about it. Due to the amount of books I found for this post, I’m splitting it into two parts: books that I’d still like to read, and books I’m not interested in trying to finish anymore. Today I’m talking about the books I’d like to finish reading!

I didn’t get very far into this book, but the story was told in such a unique format that I was instantly intrigued! I think I just picked this one up at the wrong time, so I’d definitely like to give it ago again soon.
This was a book I started years ago after I bought it on a whim at a bookstore. I think it’s a NA book, which is probably why I wasn’t as interested in it a few years ago, but I think it’s a book I’d really enjoy now!
Six of Crows is one of the best YA fantasy books I’ve read, so I can’t believe I haven’t read this sequel yet! I tried to read it when I wasn’t in the mood for a fantasy, but I’m hoping to get round to it soon.
Cassandra Clare is one of my favourite authors, and The Mortal Instruments series made me the reader I am today. But I started this book when I was definitely in reading slump city, and still haven’t managed to power through it. I will get round to this one at some point though!
Rachel Caine is an amazing author (definitely an all-time fave of mine!) and wonderful human being, so whilst I haven’t finished this book yet, I’m definitely going to! I remember really enjoying the first few chapters I read, and know I’ll enjoy it when I come back to it.
There are so many books on my Goodreads TBR shelf that I’m sure there are more I could’ve included in this list, but I might post about them another time. I’ll be publishing the second part of this post soon, where I talk about the books I’ve started but no longer want to finish reading!
What books have you started but never finished? Have you read any of the books above?
