It’s Bake Off day, so I thought there isn’t a better day to post a book and bake! (If you’re not in the UK you might not know what The Great British Bake Off is, but it’s a wonderful baking show that I highly recommend watching.) I haven’t been baking as often recently, but I decided on a whim to give shortbread a go yesterday which is something I’ve only baked once, and it was a long time ago. Carry on reading to see how it turned out, and the book I’m recommending at the end of the post!

The chocolate chip shortbread recipe I used was super easy to follow, and I’m happy with how it turned out. I found the recipe on Cookies & Cups, which is a site I’ll definitely be visiting again for baking inspiration!
The reason I’m pairing this book with the shortbread is simply because it’s my favourite read of 2019 so far, and I haven’t raved about it nearly enough! It was an emotional book that spoke about grief and friendship in such a powerful, insightful way. I’m looking forward to reading more of Jessica Brody’s books!
